Saving Ourselves

When I was growing up I was told the same fairy tales that  most of us heard. You knw the ones where some princess or beautiful maiden needed to be rescued? Then magically some handsome prince would come along, save the girl, and they would live happily ever after. I don’t remember any of the fairy tales being about a woman saving a man or saving another woman, much less saving herself. I grew up waiting for some man to come along and save me from the one man I should have been able to trust the most. It never happened. Looking back now, I wish I had been taught that women are amazingly strong creatures and fully capable of rescuing themselves, as well as helping each other. Instead, I was taught that women were out to get each other and that only a man…a handsome prince, usually, could come save the day.
One thing is for sure, it has been women that rescued me far more often than any man. I’m not hating on men, mind you. I’m simply trying to say that women don’t need to depend on any man to fix things. I’d rather see women supporting and encouraging one another, lifting each other up, to show the world that we are not just capable of greatness, but we are made for it! Let’s work on saving ourselves!

Bathwater

I’m sure some of you have heard the phrase, “I’d drink her bathwater.” I finally decided to look up where this came from and I can’t find the origin, but I found plenty of examples of it used in songs.

So, I’m just wondering how high were they when they came up with this shit? I mean, honestly….bathwater? Gross. Do you know what’s IN bathwater? Seriously, its dead skin, dirt from your pores, soap, sweat…I mean, its all the stuff you want to get OFF your body and now someone wants to drink it? Yes, I realize that its not meant to be taken quite so literally, but what kind of freaking compliment is that supposed to be? Furthermore, I’d love to say that this is primarily a male phrase, but noooooo….

Someone please explain to me how this is a compliment and why on earth anyone would want to drink bathwater or make that kind of comparison. I mean, let’s get real. Tell someone you love them so much, you’d wipe their ass if they got too fat or too old to do it themselves. Tell them that you’d build them a ramp if they ended up in a wheelchair. Tell someone that no matter how gross feet are, that you’d rub their feet if that’s what they really wanted. I mean, isn’t oral sex enough? Why do we need to drink dirty water?

Well, that’s my rant about that…here’s to love and CLEAN water!

This City Has Gone to the Dogs

This is probably the most fun I’ve had putting a picture together and to be honest, it had me feeling a bit like Cruella DeVille, despite the fact that there’s not a single Dalmatian in the mix. However, I was speaking with Jamie Cross of unKindness about her amazing Concrete Jungle gacha set for The Epiphany and we started talking about some of the other amazing sets that were in this round. One of the sets we talked about was the JIAN Countryside Collies Gacha set and how precious those little dogs were. At that moment the proverbial light bulb lit up over my head and I knew right away that this post was going to happen.

In these photos there are the white sleek dogs ({anc} flottante puppy. milk), there are a few labs from O.M.E.N., some Whippets from Foxes,  the Dobermans are from a pose  credited below, but all of the other canines are from Jian. Regarding the all of the adorable dogs from Jain: The cute collies are, of course, from this round of Epiphany, but the rest can be obtained at the mainstore. The buildings…naturally, are part of the Concrete Jungle set from unKindness at Epiphany, and though I keep forgetting to mention it, the roads are from the :Fanatik Architecture: NEW YORK set, available on marketplace and their mainstore.
