Cozy Up For the Night

I’ve been soo crazy busy lately that I’m just now getting around to blogging this adorable set from Hideki that you can grab at TLC for a few more days. It closes on the 10th, after that you’ll have to check his mainstore. This set is so cute and even my photo doesn’t do it justice. However, I couldn’t help but want to make a man cave that the girl took over….so here it is with lots of pink pieces from one of Bamse’s new sets to be found at the October round of Arcade. What better way to enjoy this room than relaxing in a comfy shirt from Vinyl, paired with some super cute sweats? A girl can watch just about any scary movie with her trusted pup beside her, right? And thanks to some pieces from Kraftwork’s new set (also at the Arcade), I was able to set the tone of horror movie night. So, I’m all about horror films in October…and honestly, I’m so obsessed with this scene, I just wanna crawl directly into it and cozy up for the night.

That Blake Life

I’ve been having so much fun in Second Life lately. I kinda dropped the ball a bit on blogging, but it has been nice to take a break from the daily grind of what is usually my SL. I moved to the Blake Sea a couple of months ago. I wasn’t expecting much from it, but it was a nice area and close to some friends. I did think it was neat that they could just drive their boats right over to my house and I loved seeing the other boats that passed my house. Saturday night, a bunch of my Burrow Co. friends were out yachting the Blake Sea and pulled up to my house. It was so awesome! They literally delivered a party to my door! We hung out and fished and laughed in ways I haven’t laughed in a very long time. It was great!
Living on the Blake has given me a huge sense of community that I’ve not felt in a very long time. Mind you, there are places I can go and feel that sense of community, like Burrow Co, but having it at home…THAT’s something I haven’t felt in well over a year…year and a half at least. I had no idea how much I missed it.
I’ve been in SL approximately 15yrs and this just goes to show, that if you’re bored in Second Life, this is not the place for you. There is so much to explore and experience on the grid that it will never cease to amaze me. So, for those looking for a new experience, go explore the grid…check out places you may have heard about, but thought they didn’t interest you. They just might surprise you, cuz I knew about the Blake ages ago and never thought I’d find myself loving it the way that I do.

This post is all about Bloom by Prism Events. I have been blogging for Prism Events…well, for years. I absolutely love the three events they put on throughout the years. Bloom is all about Spring and this year, with Easter around the corner, we’ve got an abundance of cute Easter themed items, as well. Don’t get too overwhelmed thinking that these items will only work for Spring, though. As you can see by the photo, I’ve created a summer theme using the gorgeous house from Concept that you can acquire at the Arcade. If you want to see more of the house, I did two posts about it earlier this month. You can see those here and here.
I grabbed this hair weeks ago during a Fifty Linden Friday and then yesterday Cynful released silky textures on their Buttoned Tube Top. Knowing Cyn, it’s probably still out so hurry! The rest just kinda fell into place as I was looking around at the different items I’d collected from Bloom. All in all, I’m really pleased with how my photo turned out. I hope it will inspire you to create some wonderful Spring & Summer spots of your own, or at least a cute outfit…cuz these shorts…*bites her lip*…they are sooo cute!!!!

a beautiful conversation about life

I was hanging out with some of my favorite people last night and one of them made a comment about “lazy homeless” people. I quickly jumped on the defensive. As I have been homeless on a number of occasions in my 20s and there was nothing lazy about my situation. Of course, I encountered loads of other homeless people during those times. I had to explain that while there are some people that simply don’t want to be responsible members of society. However, the bulk of the homeless people I encountered were anything but lazy. As being homeless is not an easy way to live. People that live in shelters must abide by an excess of rules put in place to keep things as orderly as possible. There are curfews and requirements one must continuously make to continue their stay and many shelters have limitations on how long people can reside there. I don’t have specific numbers, but I’d dare say that the majority of homeless people have not chosen that lifestyle as their preferred method of existence. Plus there are far more living without shelter. That is NOT an easy way to live. Its beyond dangerous. Once a person is homeless, it is safe to say that getting back on your feet is ridiculously hard. As I pointed out to my friend, what is the first thing you do the morning of a job interview? Shower, right? If you have no home, you have no shower and probably don’t have much in the way of a clean nice outfit to wear.
Anyway, the point is, don’t be so quick to judge people in situations you can’t begin to understand. Turns out that one of the other people there had also experienced homelessness and was glad that I spoke up. Meanwhile, our uninformed friend was enlightened and apologized. I didn’t find the apology necessary, but it was appreciated. I was especially glad that we were all able to have such a beautiful conversation about life without hate or disgust. I won’t name them, because too many private matters were discussed and only my part of the story is mine to tell. I suspect they might read this and because they might I want to give them to know something. I love you and I’m so grateful for your friendship. I look forward to getting to know you even better in the years to come. ♥
