Christmas Collab with Chickadee

I’ve been wanting to do more collaborations with other bloggers for ages. As a blog manager, I have access to dozens of truly talented bloggers that represent similar if not the same brands as myself. When United Colors released his last two gowns, Chickadee and I knew instantly that this was our collaboration waiting to happen. I just so happened to have a party scene already set up from a previous post (you’ll find the link for that in the details below the photo), so we just needed a few friends for a the background. We were fortunate that Ty and Dusty were will to step in to model for us rather last minute.  Tis the season for all sorts of parties from casual to formal. Don’t struggle too hard on the formal, because UC has truly outdone himself with the details and the fit on these two gowns. I’m a Mess

I’ve been told that I’m a bit of a downer lately and I know it’s true. I’ve also been told that I need to socialize more, but the downer thing is exactly why I can’t right now. I have to keep busy, keep moving forward until all of this real life crap is so far behind me that I can barely see it, much less cry over it. I’m sorry to to the friends that need me right now. I’m simply not strong enough for both of right now. You deserve better, but please know that I do love you all…I am just a mess right now. I’m doing my best to keep myself pulled together, but the minute I stop moving forward…the very moment I let my demons have so much as one second of time in my head. I’m doomed. So, am I withdrawing and isolating? Yes, a bit, but I am trying not to withdraw too much. I even reached out to a handful of friends to do some collaborations. So, you’ll be seeing those soon. ♥

That really sums me up pretty damn well. Or it used to. I don’t drink or drug too often anymore. I think at some point, I just realized that I kinda like being sober and in control. Drugs and alcohol can numb the pain for a bit, but the best way not to feel is to just go to sleep. Everything will still be there in the morning.

One Night

He showed up at the club while she was working. He was with a loud mouth girl, who clearly couldn’t hold her liquor. She had done her best to ignore them both, but as he would come to the bar to order drinks, he would grab her for a few words. She never could fight the attraction, but he frightened her. He was a good guy and she didn’t know how to deal with good guys. Bad boys were her thing, because they were safe. She always knew how those relationships would go, but one look from him and she was frozen in place. When he suggested they talk in the back room, she couldn’t resist. Part of her longed to have him back, but he had yet to show her that he had changed as much as he said he did. But one night…just one more night, wouldn’t hurt, right?

Shady AF

There are people in this world that will do anything to make others look bad. Sadly, these miserable people will smile in your face then turn to their next friend and stab you in the back. Sometimes they make false accusations. Other times, they exaggerate the truth. Here’s the thing, when the only dirt someone can find on you is something that you’ve never denied or even attempted to keep a secret…well, its kinda sad, not to mention pathetic. I personally find haters to be flattering. However, not everyone is as amused by them as I am. Here’s the thing and I’ve said it before, I never asked to take up so much space in their empty little heads. The only reason they are getting any attention from me now is because I’d like to thank them for the recognition. You see, since the “secret” came out, I’ve had people reach out to me that I haven’t heard from in a while. Others have stepped forward with stories of their own haters and we’ve formed a bond of solidarity. We all agree that our haters aren’t worth confronting and by next week, the “secret” and all the energy they put into it will have been forgotten. So, if you’re going to be shady as fuck, learn some new tricks, because your old ones are boring….and no one is entertained by boring.

The Classy Cougar

When I was younger, there was this woman, my mother’s age, that lived in my neighborhood that always fascinated me. At the time, I thought how much I’d like to be like her one day. Alas, that was not my destiny. She was beautiful and elegant, at least I thought so. Mind you, I was young and rather impressionable, not to mention naive. I just remember that she wore lingerie whenever you saw her at home. No, not pajamas, but beautiful lingerie, with long sheer, lace robes…some even had that furry stuff around the edges…and heels! Oh, she always had on heels to match. She was quite popular, as I’m sure you can imagine. How does the line in the song go…”She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends.” She definitely had those.
For a long time, I just watched her in admiration, imagining what life was like inside her apartment. I eventually met her and she was every bit as amazing in person. I went inside her apartment and it was amazing. The colors, the curtains…she had so many beautiful things. I got to know her over the coming months. I could probably write an entire book about her. Instead, I’m sharing a brief memory of a glamorous Nubian queen that I met once upon a time, because when setting up this photo I thought of her. Isn’t it funny the impressions that people sometimes leave on our lives?

My Led Zeppelin Summer

I can’t hear Led Zeppelin without thinking back to the most amazing summer of my life. I was in college and I had somehow gotten involved with this group of people that were unlike any one I had ever known in my life. That summer/fall season is just filled with the best memories and it was as if we were all transported back in time. We smoked a lot of weed that summer and listened to classic rock like Led Zeppelin and The Doors endlessly. It was truly a magical time in my life and I’m so grateful to have experienced it. I’ve long lost touch with all of those people now, but they will always be part of my precious memories of that summer. I’d relive that time again and again if I could.
We were young, progressive, and carefree. We danced on the edge of a mountain while the sun went down, then sat there listening to our music watching the cars zip pass us completely unaware of our existence. We had deep conversations and silly ones.  We had just a tiny taste of the 60s in the 80s and it was amazing.
