I’ve always love quaint, comfy locally owned coffee shops. Long before Starbucks put itself in ever Target and strip mall they could fine, before Dunkin was better know for their coffee than their donuts, there were these amazing little coffee shops in my area. They made you feel at home. The coffee was great, the people were great, the atmosphere was great. Though each coffee house had its own energy and style, each one was equally welcoming. Sadly, when Starbucks and Dunkin popped up everywhere with their fancy little drive thru windows…and life got busier…and I pulled away from my friends…well, I don’t even remember the last time I was in one of those coffee houses.

Suicide Test

My real life is a freaking mess and certainly not what I had hoped it would be by my age. However, if I don’t give thanks for the little things, I simply wouldn’t be able to pull myself from the edge of suicide. It sounds severe and dramatic, but I assure you that its something I think about regularly. AND from the age of 12 until I was 22, I was attempted it regularly. Clearly, I failed at that like so many things in my life. It was my last attempt that changed everything. I was lying in the ICU, barely conscious when I had an epiphany for what I now call my Suicide Test. I have yet to pass this test, therefore, I have not been able to attempt suicide again since.
It’s quite simple actually. It’s a 30 day test, so patience is key, but if you’re planning to die, what’s 30 more days, yeah? So, look at the clock. For me, its 9:19pm on Sept 19. Now, if I do not find a single moment of joy between now and 9:19pm on Oct 19th, I can proced with my suicide attempt. However, you have to understand the true nature of joy and what all that entails. That means you must want to die for every second of ever minute of every hour of every day for 30 days straight. That means you cannot enjoy a single moment of your life for even a second or the clock starts over. So, if a meme makes you laugh or even smile or silently chuckle. Clock restarts. You tasted something wonderful and thought to yourself how good that was? Clock restarts. You stepped in the shower and exhaled with relief as that hot water poured over you. Clock restarts.
You see, if you had killed yourself upon that first notion, you would have missed that simple moment of joy. If you would have missed something as simple as a cluster of butterflies dancing over your head, then you surely would have missed the smile you bring to other people’s faces. And let’s face it, no matter how awful you think your life is…you make someone smile and someone loves you.

Self-Righteous Perception

Every so often I come across songs that I think apply to the majority of us in SL and this is one of them. Take a minute, if you will, just read the lyrics before you click on the title link to actually hear the song. Even if you’re familiar with the song already…try to read the words more like a poem…let them sink in. For me, this type of philosophical, metaphoric poetry says more than any one person that even begins to suggest what is right for your life when they barely know you at all. We learn more about ourselves and our truths by looking inward with a mirror made of jagged edges, than we will ever learn from someone else’s self-righteous perception.

Kind Strangers

If your car has to break down in the middle of nowhere it never hurts to have a sexy mechanic working on your car.

On a more serious note, never let it be said that there are not some perfectly kind strangers in SL willing to help out another stranger for a few minutes. I had originally gone to this sim, thinking that I would take a photo in a diner or something along those lines. Then I say the classic mustang and a very nice looking avatar posed as if he were working on it. Sadly, his entire profile was in Portuguese, so to Google translator I went. One thing was certain, he was happily taken and didn’t like girls who disrespected that. Noted. In English (he can translate, too, right) I told him that I wasn’t flirting but would he mind staying put for a blog photo I wanted to do. He kindly obliged and the moment I was done, he poofed away. No friendships made, no advances from either of us, no more conversation….just two photographers passing in the light. *giggles*

So, I owe a huge thank you to  Hendrick Kos (SirAatrox) for being so kind to a complete stranger. It’s people like him that restore just a teensy bit of my faith in human kind.

How many of us truly belong in karma or some sort of divine justice? We’ve all heard people say, “there’s a special place in hell for people like that.” Some of us have even thought it or said it ourselves. So, while we sit in judgement of others, regardless of their offense, how many of us want the karma or divine justice we deserve? How many of us have taken a friend or lover down with us?
I think that its far too easy and convenient to point the fingers at others. I think that most of us revel in the crimes of the obscene, for it relieves us of some of the guilt we carry within our hearts. However, what if there’s a special place in hell for people like us? Does karma just skip the little stuff? Just food for thought.

Blueberry pt2

I recently did a post about mixing Blueberry sets and I promised that you’d be seeing this combination soon. I love this top so much. I know it’s supposed to be a bikini top, but I wear it with so many things. With that said, I’d like to mention that these leggings come with a hud to write your own message. I believe there are 14 charaters, 2 fonts, more than a dozen symbols…AND you can customize the colors of the letters. These Reign sneakers tie the whole thing together as they are fully customizable, as well. (I think I just made up a word, but let’s roll with it.)

Fake Friends

This quote or something along those lines has been told to me so many times over the years. It’s important to my sanity that I remember this, especially when “friends” begin acting shady around you. I think most of us are intuitive enough to realize when one of so called friends suddenly seems fake as hell. I’ll admit it hurts to think that someone you care about suddenly thinks very little of you. Even worse knowing that the real reason they have suddenly begun to think less of you, is actually a reflection of their feelings towards themselves. Sadly, instead of looking in the mirror, they’d rather project their failures and misgivings upon someone else. At this point, the question is, do you attempt to prove that person wrong or do you just go the other way. I know that for me personally, I cannot tip toe about broken glass that I can’t even see. They’ll just have to clean that up themselves, because I have far too much on my plate to worry about what others think of me. If only that was my biggest problem, I’d be far more blessed than I deserve.
