Make Room

I really wanted to write something beautiful, maybe even poetic for this photo. I wanted to write about light cascading into a bedroom on a lazy afternoon. I thought about songs that fit the mood. I even looked at a few quotes about Sunday mornings. In the end, I decided that nothing quite fit the mood of the room except to say that I spent so much time putting this room together that it almost hurt when I tore it down to make room for the next scene I’d put together.
Blogging decor is so bittersweet in that way. I spend time with each creation, moving them to just the right place. Yes, I start off with a pack or two from designers I work with, but then I reach into the depths of my inventory pulling out various delights that I’ve collected to add to the scene. Then once I feel the scene is complete, I begin shooting photos from every angle and that’s when pieces get moved around again and again until I have it just right. I get my photo, I do a bit of editing, grab the credits, pop everything into my blog draft and then….tear it all down to make room for the next scene.

Cat Nap

I have my share of sleep problems. That’s certainly been no secret throughout my life. However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve discovered that I absolutely love naps. Sadly, too many of my naps turn into full fledged sleeps. I will plan to lie down for a nap and wake up within two hours. Unfortunately, I wake up five or six hours later wondering where I am and what damn time it is. *laughs* Once upon a time, I couldn’t take a nap to save my life and now its one of my favorite pastimes. I’m becoming more and more like my cat by the day. Which reminds me. I have no idea why they think cap naps are quick and light. My cat spends 80% of his day asleep!

The Hardest Part

I think the hardest part of doing decor posts is figuring out what to write. I’m not always as emotionally connected with my decor scenes as I usually am with my fashion pics. I’ve had this photo ready for at least a week know and every time I pull up the post to write something, I turn my head to the side like a confused dog. I’m actually quite proud of the scene and the arrangement of the items, but no clue what to say. I’m not a huge fan of leather furniture in real life, because I hate sticking to it. I do think its beautiful and I think of this room as a man’s area. A man who has a woman in his life, like a mother or sister, that insisted on a few female touches to the room. *shrugs* Maybe I’ll have more to say about the next picture. Though to be perfectly honest, I’ve been more visually inspired as of late, than verbally.

Condo Christmas

I am a sucker for skyboxes, but let’s face it, most of us use skyboxes because we don’t need a lot of space. Therefore, its fair to assume that most skyboxes won’t be very big. Although, some of them most certainly are as big if not bigger than some of the most popular houses. However, I tend to believe that most skybox lovers prefer the quaint spaces. Just like real life, decorating small spaces for holidays can often present its own challenges. So what if you don’t have a fireplace, you can hang those stocking from a shelf near a window. If Santa’s fat ass can find his way down a chimney, surely he can use that same magic to get through a window!

The Foyer

The foyer of a home is like the catch all, when you come in the door and have to bolt for the bathroom. I don’t know about you, but it never fails that I’ve got my arms full and that’s the exact moment that I need to pee! I was so excited about these sets from Silence. Although they were designed for a hallway, I could not help myself. I had to use them to decorate the foyer in my new skybox. I added some clutter to reflect that moment right after I get home from a day of running errands and shopping. Drops my bags on the floor, except the tacos and coffee….those are precious and can’t be trusted on the floor with the cats around. *giggles* It might have a fancy name like the foyer, but I think mine should be called the rush in and catch it room.

Not So Haunted

It’s no secret that I’m an atheist. So, it should come as no surprise that I’m also a skeptic when it comes to most things that are considered supernatural, particularly ghosts, possessions, demons, and anything considered haunted. However, most people never question how I came to these conclusions. For one thing, I’ve spent multiple nights in a house that was supposedly haunted and I never saw a thing. Haunted houses are especially suspect to me, because they’re always old houses. It’s like apartments or houses built in the last 50 years are never haunted. Plenty of murders and bizarre deaths happen in homes like those, but for some reason they’re never reported to be haunted. I’ve never heard of an atheist being possessed. For that matter, it seems to be limited to Catholics.
What might really surprise people is that I do believe that there is life on other planets, but not in our solar system. I also believe in vampires, but not the blood drinking, murderous type. I believe in psyvamps, as they feed off of energy, and this is something I’m quite familiar with, because I’ve been doing that very thing since I was a child. Psyvamps get a very bad reputation, but that’s a topic for another day. I, also, believe in certain forms of…well, for the lack of a better word…magic. This is also something I’ve experienced and perhaps one day, I’ll write more about that. For now, I just wanted to touch on some basic supernatural ideas, because I’m currently watching The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. *laughs*
I dunno, I’m just not big into believing in make believe monsters, when all the real monsters I’ve seen and met have been human. Perhaps that’s why crime shows intrigue me so much. That or I’m just a twisted weirdo. *shrugs & giggles*

Most of us have seen the SL Facebook and Flickr contests promoting new items with the like, comment, and share to enter requirements. I will do them to help promote creators, but I don’t expect to win. There are people in this world that are lucky and win lots of stuff…I had an aunt like that once. I’m not one of those people. If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have none at all. Until now! I won the Dead Dollz Arcade set from Facebook. Now when Kiddo Oh gave me my prize, she told me there was something special in the box for me. I couldn’t imagine what it was, but I figured maybe she threw in a gift card or maybe a special color. Office Stuff

I’ve had a weakness for office furniture and supplies since I was a child. I have no idea why. I remember having a small walk in closet in one house, I used a tv dinner table as a desk and two chairs in there with a lamp and made it my private office. I would sit in there for hours, writing stories, coloring, drawing…pretending to do office stuff. I was over the moon when I got my first type writer and eventually I had a real desk. It was absolutely glorious. I had designed it myself and my father made it by hand for me. Now in SL, I probably have more stuff for a home office than any other room in a house. *giggles*

The Desert

I’ve always wanted to see the desert. I’ve seen some beautiful mountains, both in the U.S. and in Europe, but the desert…nope. Maybe one day before I die, but it’s doubtful. I don’t foresee my ass getting on a plane, that’s for damn sure. As for a road trip? Sure, it sounds like a blast, but to be fair, if I’m heading west in a car, I’m heading for Utah. Clearly, not for the site seeing, but that’s where one of my best friends lives and I’d rather see her than some long ass stretch of sand. Which is what I’ve been told the desert looks like by those that have lived there. They don’t seem to find it all that impressive at all. I suppose that’s like New Yorkers never going to the top of the Empire State building or the Statue of Liberty. Sometimes it takes an outsider to appreciate the things we so often take for granted.

Anyway, all this hacienda themed stuff really had me thinking about that…and well, there ya go…that’s how my blog works…lol.
