The Color Pink

I don’t know why the color pink just feels so natural in a bedroom. Even in my real life bedroom, the minute my ex moved out of the bedroom? I started adding pink. Maybe I’m trying to climb back into the womb. Metaphorically, of course. Although, there was this one time that I had painted my room this beautiful salmon pink, because I fell in love with Sara’s bedroom in Sweet November. Shortly there after, my friend Justin came over and I showed him my bedroom. The first thing he said was, “I feel like I just walked into a giant vagina.” Needless to say, I’ve never had pink walls again. Though I didn’t repaint that bedroom. In fact, my friend Matthew had the pleasure of painting over that pink when he took over my lease. *giggles*
However, the luxury of Second Life allows me to have pink walls one day and gray the next. I love being able to change decor and clothing with the click of a few buttons. It still might take me all day to get the job done, but at least I’m not wrestling with paint brushed, pulling my back out with oversized furniture, or wrestling with jeans that have clearly shrunk in the last few months. *look around innocently and hides her candy*

This is exactly how I feel about decorating. I absolutely love decorating, especially in Second Life. I will say that listing everything in a decor blog can be a bit tedious, but the end result is always so satisfying and I find the process to be almost like meditation.

Every Leaf is a Flower

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” ~Albert Camus

I love the changing of the leaves in fall. I live in a condo that has a lovely entrance and the avenue that comes down into our neighborhood is lined with the most colorful trees. Every fall, we are blessed with brilliant reds, bright golds, bold oranges…and not just on the trees, but on the ground and whisking around the cars as we generate a gentle wind. The crisp air tingles exposed flesh just enough to make you appreciate your sweater. As the world shifts from greens to the warmest of earth tones, we see the shift of decor in homes, yards, and stores. It makes me crave hot chocolate and caramel apples. I love how creative people get with their pumpkins, too. Reserving them for Autumn rather than mutilating them to make some jagged scene or face for Halloween. This is the coziest of all the seasons to me and though the shift in weather causes me to ache and hurt more physically than usual, I could never hate it.

I’ve always love quaint, comfy locally owned coffee shops. Long before Starbucks put itself in ever Target and strip mall they could fine, before Dunkin was better know for their coffee than their donuts, there were these amazing little coffee shops in my area. They made you feel at home. The coffee was great, the people were great, the atmosphere was great. Though each coffee house had its own energy and style, each one was equally welcoming. Sadly, when Starbucks and Dunkin popped up everywhere with their fancy little drive thru windows…and life got busier…and I pulled away from my friends…well, I don’t even remember the last time I was in one of those coffee houses.

Vanilla

When I first came into Second Life, back in 2006, I was officially introduced to the Master tag and the entire D/s world. Prior to that, I knew there were fetishes and that people were into bdsm. However, I thought those were just kinks and fetishes. I had no idea they were lifestyles. Over time, I learned the differences between all types of subs and Dom/mes. For the longest time, you really couldn’t go anywhere without seeing some dude wearing a Master tag and a black cape. Now the trend seems to be more focused on Daddy Doms and BabyGirls, or perhaps that’s just where my path has led. However, based on some of the things I see on Facebook, I’m prone to think that those that are not into the bdsm lifestyle are somehow seen as boring. In fact, the term used for those that are not into bdsm is Vanilla. As if to say that Vanilla is a boring flavor.
The truth is, that vanilla is a build block flavor that is in more recipes than most people would realize. The same can be said about sex. I think its funny that so many people in the bdsm community fuss at one another for kinky shaming, as there are some rather extreme kinks out there. Yet, no one really stands up and says, “Ya know what? It’s okay to be Vanilla! It’s ok not to like dirty talk or toys or whips & chains.” There is nothing wrong with Vanilla.
In fact, I’ll take a Vanilla latte over one of those silly pumpkin spice lattes any day! Plus, you can take vanilla ice cream and add stuff to that to make it spectacular. Okay, I’m getting off track and now I want ice cream. Go shopping! I’m going to the kitchen!
