My Led Zeppelin Summer

I can’t hear Led Zeppelin without thinking back to the most amazing summer of my life. I was in college and I had somehow gotten involved with this group of people that were unlike any one I had ever known in my life. That summer/fall season is just filled with the best memories and it was as if we were all transported back in time. We smoked a lot of weed that summer and listened to classic rock like Led Zeppelin and The Doors endlessly. It was truly a magical time in my life and I’m so grateful to have experienced it. I’ve long lost touch with all of those people now, but they will always be part of my precious memories of that summer. I’d relive that time again and again if I could.
We were young, progressive, and carefree. We danced on the edge of a mountain while the sun went down, then sat there listening to our music watching the cars zip pass us completely unaware of our existence. We had deep conversations and silly ones.  We had just a tiny taste of the 60s in the 80s and it was amazing.

What I Want

I attached a song to this post, because it has this crazy beat and uses one of my tag lines repeatedly, “I do what I want!” I really do what I want for the most part. Sure, there are limitations on what I can do because of money or whatever, but if it’s within my power, yeah, I really do what I want. I’ve finally figured out that relationships are not for me. It’s not that I don’t believe in love. I do. I just feel like I’ve had more than my share and now its time for me to let go of any fairy tale ideas I might have once had. I’m not pointing fingers at my ex-lovers, by any means. I just know that I’m a picky little bitch and I’m just done with committing myself to people romantically.
You see, I have a tendency to try and people please. A couple of years ago, I got in a relationship with an ex, just so a close friend of mine would no longer see me as a threat. However, recently it has occurred to me, that if someone finds me to be a threat to them in some way…that is THEIR problem, not mine. I’ve never stepped on the toes of my friends, not intentionally anyway. And I can assure you, the minute I knew I was even close to stepping on toes, I backed off. I’m not the kind of friend that stabs my friends in the back. Ever since my return to SL in 2014, I’ve been accused of things I’ve not done…simply because I made friends with the wrong person at the wrong time…or worse yet, they heard a rumor that was started by a small group of silly girls and assumed it was true without ever getting to know me. Now, I’m done bending over backwards trying to prove the rumors wrong. I’m not tip toeing around invisible glass to avoid upsetting anyone’s fragile ego, especially in the name of friendship. The way I see it, if you think I’m such a horrible person why bother trying to be my friend at all? Why bother pretending?
Clearly, they don’t know me at all and should probably find friends they CAN trust, even though I suspect that’s not entirely possible, since I’ve done nothing to lose said trust to begin with. Meh, I got my feelings hurt for a minute and now I’m rambling, but here’s the deal: Look closely at the menu, do the pictures EVER look the like the food you actually get served? Nah, they don’t. While you all sort out who you trust and who you don’t? I’ll be over here doing what I want and one thing I don’t want is people that call me a friend but make judgments and talk shit behind my back, rather than dealing with their own problems.

Kissing Frogs

I’ve about to decided that I’m going to refer to all my exes as frogs. I’ve kissed them all and not a one has turned into a prince, but they’ve certainly wasted no time in hopping away. They made a whole lot of noise and had no problem sharing my pad, but when it came down to it they all ended up back in the pond. Personally, I think they can stay there. Perhaps someone else will find a use for them….oh say, frog legs sauteed in a garlic butter sauce. *smirks* Either way, I’m done kissing frogs and going forward, frogs will just have to remain in the pond where I found them. I can enjoy them from a distance while partaking in some Kronic. *grins*

Fake Friends

This quote or something along those lines has been told to me so many times over the years. It’s important to my sanity that I remember this, especially when “friends” begin acting shady around you. I think most of us are intuitive enough to realize when one of so called friends suddenly seems fake as hell. I’ll admit it hurts to think that someone you care about suddenly thinks very little of you. Even worse knowing that the real reason they have suddenly begun to think less of you, is actually a reflection of their feelings towards themselves. Sadly, instead of looking in the mirror, they’d rather project their failures and misgivings upon someone else. At this point, the question is, do you attempt to prove that person wrong or do you just go the other way. I know that for me personally, I cannot tip toe about broken glass that I can’t even see. They’ll just have to clean that up themselves, because I have far too much on my plate to worry about what others think of me. If only that was my biggest problem, I’d be far more blessed than I deserve.

I Need Noise

So, if there’s one thing I hate in life…its a fucking liar. I understand that we all tell white lies…”You look great!”…”No, those pants don’t make your ass look huge.”…”Sure, I’d love to help you clean the house.” I’m not talking about that little shit. I’m talking about the big shit. Naturally, I’ve talked about how if someone lies about the little stuff, they’re bound to lie about the big stuff. The real rub is when you find out the truth. If you’re going to tell a big ass lie…then lie til you die, muthafucka! Cuz I’ve had enough lies to last me a fucking lifetime and I don’t need anymore. So, if you’re one of those perpetual liars that doesn’t “mean” to lie or things tend to “just happen” to you frequently….then not only are you lying to those around you…you’re lying to yourself. So, take your lies and shove them up your ass….oh and do it way the fuck over there, cuz I’m not having it. Trust issues? Nah, I don’t have trust issues. I’ve just finally figured out that trust is as big a lie as love.
When I realize that I’ve been lied to by someone I thought I could trust? Wow, yeah, I need noise, because if I crawl too deep into my head with the ammunition, my demons are going to have a field day. Don’t worry, I won’t believe anything anyone tells me for a long while to come….so once I get through this shit, I won’t worry about being lied to, cuz I’ve finally seen the light.

Y2K

OH that silly Y2K. For those of us that were adults for the rollover from 1999 to 2000, it was quite a mess. People honestly thought the world was going to end. I have to wonder did they have the same concerns as 999 rolled into 1000? or even 1899 to 1900? I seriously doubt it, then again…once upon a time people thought the world was flat. I remember thinking this was going to be the most epic NYE ever. We even arranged for some X, but we were one tab short and drew straws to see who was going to be the designated driver. Son of a bitch at my luck, because this was the one NYE that I was looking forward to the most. Afterall, Prince had gotten me all psyched up about ages ago. Wanna know what I was doing as the year, the decade, the century, the millennium rolled over? I was passed out asleep on a couch bored out of my damn skull while my friends were tripping balls outside. I want a do over!!
