Celebrate Yourself

People grow and change all the time. I’ve always hated hearing someone say that people don’t change, because they most certainly do. And a lot of us need to. If people never changed, we would never progress in life. But its more than that. We change at different paces and in different directions. This is not a bad thing. Sadly, it does mean that some of us grow apart. It does not mean we love one another any less.
Instead of looking at our differences and cringing at the evolution of our relationships, we need to celebrate ourselves. Particularly if our personal changes are making us happier with ourselves and the world around us. We shouldn’t grieve the things we’re losing, we should celebrate the things we’re gaining. We should not feel ashamed of personal progress, ever. Let’s face it, if we are moving in a positive direction, those that love us most will take notice and they will be happy for our personal successes. Those that don’t? Well, there’s nothing we can do about that. We cannot change how others receive our changes. What we can do, is keep on keeping on, put our best foot forwards, and continue to grow in a positive direction. There’s no shame in personal growth. Go ahead, celebrate yourself. *raises a glass*

I can relax

For the first time in a very long time, I feel like I can relax. I’ve cut way back on my blogging responsibilities. I’m dating a wonderful man that I’ve known for years. I love all my jobs in Second Life. I have enough on my plate to keep my busy, but not so much that I feel overwhelmed. I can take time to enjoy myself without worrying about getting behind. I can take time away from Second Life without worrying too much about not being available 24/7.
I am still battling my demons and my depression, but having Second Life running smoothly for the most part really helps. I have a therapy appointment in a few days. I get anxiety about leaving the house, but knowing that I’m going to see her helps. I just really hate leaving the house and going into the unknown. That takes all the courage and strength I can must at times. It’s really strange that I’ve become so introverted, because once upon a time I was the life of the party. I’m not exactly sure when that light inside me started to dim, but it seems to be out now. Once in a blue moon, I can get it relit, but its as if I’m trying to keep a candle lit in a high wind. It doesn’t stay lit for long.
Since, I’ve finally got one corner of my life in check, I’m hoping that I can work on the other corners while maintaining the ones I’ve already got sorted. Yes, you heard it here, I have…*sighs*…hope.

As I move forward

Sometimes doing what’s right for myself seems to hurt those around me, because they don’t understand my choices. Their path is not my own and I don’t expect them to fully understand. Unfortunately, there are times that I cannot find a way to explain my choices without hurting their feelings. It’s not about them, though, and I have to trust that if they truly love me and care for me, they will trust that my decisions are about me…not them. I suppose this is the sort of line in the sand that some will never understand. I hate losing friends, but at the end of the day this is my life and I must do right by me. I’ve spent the majority of my life people pleasing and it has led me to some pretty dark places. There’s a sense of freedom that comes with shedding that people pleasing skin and really being true to myself for the first time in many years. I’m sorry that I hurt people along the way, that was never my intention. I can only hope to be more careful and mindful as I move forward.
