Kind Strangers

If your car has to break down in the middle of nowhere it never hurts to have a sexy mechanic working on your car.

On a more serious note, never let it be said that there are not some perfectly kind strangers in SL willing to help out another stranger for a few minutes. I had originally gone to this sim, thinking that I would take a photo in a diner or something along those lines. Then I say the classic mustang and a very nice looking avatar posed as if he were working on it. Sadly, his entire profile was in Portuguese, so to Google translator I went. One thing was certain, he was happily taken and didn’t like girls who disrespected that. Noted. In English (he can translate, too, right) I told him that I wasn’t flirting but would he mind staying put for a blog photo I wanted to do. He kindly obliged and the moment I was done, he poofed away. No friendships made, no advances from either of us, no more conversation….just two photographers passing in the light. *giggles*

So, I owe a huge thank you to  Hendrick Kos (SirAatrox) for being so kind to a complete stranger. It’s people like him that restore just a teensy bit of my faith in human kind.

Walk on Water

If I’m not allowed to give up on my life, because of how bad things are, then I cannot give up on my country either. Many times over the years, I’ve thought to myself that I no longer love America, because there is so much hate. However, the song/video I’m sharing with this post really made me think. I can’t speak for other countries, but just maybe you can find some pride for your own within this song/video. I don’t think most of us are all that different. So, with Independence Day just around the corner, I’ve decided to stand by the U.S.A. and never give up the hope that we will overcome these adverse times. We are not a perfect country, we never will be, and while I don’t think its all that great right now…it has been and will be again someday. It’s up to us whether we allow adversity and diversity to make us come together or stand apart. I choose to stand proudly amidst all the diversity and proudly claim myself an American.

Baggage

We all have some sort of emotional baggage. Some are lucky enough to travel light. Some of us have to rent out a storage room to keep up with everything that happens to us. The thing is we definitely need to put it somewhere, otherwise we’re dragging it all around with us all the time and it just weighs us down. We don’t need to carry it around displaying it with pride like, “Oh look at me, I was abused as a kid!” We must learn how to deal with it and once we do, we need to pack it neatly away so that when we revisit it, or these metaphorical boxes in our imaginary closets/storage rooms come crashing down, we can deal with it accordingly. Yes, occasionally it will happen that one or more of those boxes might fall open, but just like photographs in a shoe-box, we need to learn to sift through those memories and realize how far we’ve come. Then shove that crap right back in the box and possibly find a more secure place for it. Then lock it up and guard the key, only offering to open it up and share with people we’ve learned to trust. People we know won’t turn around and use the things they discover like weapons against us down the line.
Maybe I’m waxing too philosophical this morning. Maybe none of that made sense to anyone, but me. Then I again, my blog is my therapy…so what do you expect? *chuckles*

Music amazes me the way it crawls into your head, as if the writers of the songs I love have read my mind like a book. It astounds me the way I relate to so many lyrics, even the rhythm will lure me in hypnotizing me to digest the words that have been plucked from me to dance with the magic of a melody. New Shoes

There’s just something about a new pair of shoes that will light up your day, provided they fit right and don’t hurt your feet. Luckily, in SL, that is never an issue. Matching them up with a new outfit is even better. Again, in SL, this is one of the simply joys you can’t always enjoy in the real world. There’s just a pep in your step that wasn’t there before.
