Well, I don’t feel better when I’m fucking around And I don’t write better when I’m stuck in the ground So don’t teach me a lesson ’cause I’ve already learned Yeah, the sun will be shining and my children will burn Oh, the heart beats in its cage I don’t want what you want, I don’t feel what you feel See, I’m stuck in a city but I belong in a field Yeah, we got left, left, left, left, left, left, left Now it’s three in the morning and you’re eating alone
Oh, the heart beats in its cage
All our friends, they’re laughing at us All of those you loved, you mistrust Help me, I’m just not quite myself Look around, there’s no one else left

I just had the funniest conversation with my 73yr old mother in real life, that I felt it was share worthy. First, I want to say that my mother has always been open minded and accepting of all people. She had a gay bestie in college, which is saying a lot, considering it was the 60s! So, without further adieu…this is my trying to explain something to my mom.
Me: Oh she’s TransFemale.
Mom: so she’s gonna be a man?
Me: no, she’s a woman
Mom: NOW? or before?
Me: always
Mom: no, but she was born as a man, right?
Me: no, she’s always been a woman…she just had the wrong parts
Mom: so she was born with men’s parts?
Me: yes, Momma
Mom: so she was a man
Me: no, she’s always been a woman!
Mom: then how is she trans?
Me: oh ffs, yes, she was born a man, go away!
I swear sometimes I think she does it on purpose. And what does this have to do with the photo? Absolutely nothing. *laughs*
This picture is probably one of my favorite collaborations yet. First of all, it’s with Kess Crystal, who happens to be one of my absolute best friends. She has single handedly changed my life in so many ways since we’ve met. All of my closest friends have played a huge part in my holding it together, but Kess and I…well, I guess I’ve been closer to her the longest. Granted, its only a few months longer, but those months were spent together crying and laughing daily. Every morning, we had coffee together and each conversation started the same. As soon as I heard her voice, I’d say, “Good morning, Gorgeous.” From there, we’d have our coffee and we’d talk about how she was doing with her wretched break up. I watched her blog begin to blossom and the therapeutic value of it. Less than a year into our true friendship, I was smacked with the biggest betrayal my heart had felt since I was a child. Kess was there (as were others) and she watched as I acted out. She watched me fall apart and completely lose my shit.
When I mentioned that I might want to blog for the same therapeutic value that she had gotten from it, not only did she encourage me, but she mentored me. She helped me grow as a blogger and gave me tips. She helped me find my own blogger identity. Less than a month ago, she stepped up in the biggest way yet. It was like magic, so this photo is perfect for us….the magic, her as the teacher….her as the older one…*smirks*…okay, to be fair, she’s only 8 months older. The point is…SHE is the oldest! *grins* Now, I’ll know I did good if she cries after reading this. Will she?
So, all the details are below and a link to her blog, as well.
You’re the oldest, you be the teacher! I’ll be the cute, young student!

When I was a little girl, I used to ask my mom questions about the devil all the time. A bit of foreshadowing in real life, perhaps? To be fair, I think my curiosity was stirred up by foods. My parents had a fondness for deviled ham and it came in this little can that was wrapped in paper. On that paper was the iconic symbol of a devil. Red, pointy tail, hooves…not greatly detailed, just a bit of clip art before that was really a thing. There was also devil’s food cake which was amazing and compared to angel’s food cake…I found the devil to be the better cook. My mom would also make comments to about the cats having the devil in them when they were especially mischievous, energetic, or loud. As an only child, I love the cats the most when they were active, so again, I had this positive connection to the devil. The funny thing is, I remember asking my mom to tell me all about the devil, but for the life of me, I cannot remember anything she would say. I’m guessing she probably changed the subject and tried to steer my attention to Jesus or angels. Those topics just always put me right to sleep. I’m quite sure if my mom was to look back on my early childhood she was say there were a lot of clues about what was to come. *grins*
Why be a Redangel, when you can be a RedDevil, Tracy?
My friend, Sassy Nitely, posted this as a status on Facebook:
I think it’s funny when people say “you’ve changed”. Isn’t that the point, though? To grow and evolve? We’re not meant to stay the same. Sure, we can stay the same at the core – but our opinions, the stuff we will/won’t put up with, relationships, etc. They all change as we age. When someone says “you’ve changed” just thank them for noticing. There’s nothing wrong with evolving.
This really made me think and I was grateful that it did. She’s absolutely right. I’ve always hated when people say that people don’t change, because we do. We all do. You can often mark those changes with the various milestones in your life. Everything that happens to us changes us just a little bit. How could you not? I definitely think this is a topic I will be revisiting in the future.
“Found it over in the corner
Wadded up on the bedroom floor
You shoulda hid it in the closet
You shoulda burned it, you shoulda lost it
Now I’ma have to hang you out to dry, dry, dry
Clothespin all your secrets to the line, line, line
Leave ’em blowing in the wind, just say goodbye to you
All those midnights sneaking in
I’m late again, oh, I’m so sorry
All the Ajax in the world ain’t gonna clean your dirty laundry”
Now; old and grey and tired, done with the day,
By the fire with this book and a whisky,
Slowly readin’, and dreamin’ of that look
Your eyes had in the lengthening shadows;
How I loved each moment of grace with you,
And your way with beauty and elegance
But those days are past and long, long at rest
Left with the sorrows of my changin’ face,
Bendin’ down beside the glowin’ embers,
Whisperin’; ‘Sleep well, there was none but you’
And that is all that remains of the day
Retreatin’ back into rhythms and rhymes
Hidin’ myself amid a crowd of words
Amongst what remains of the reveries
I’ve always envied the people that just pack and move somewhere new with hardly any money in their pockets. I can’t wrap my mind around how they do it. All I can think about is how I’ll need money for deposits and food and rent and gas and…and…and…the list is endless. I’ve known people of all ages that have moved around all over the world with hardly any money to their names. I’ve never thought to ask any of them, how they managed it. Maybe they had more money and resources than they let on. I do know that if I had my life to live over, I would definitely have traveled more. I absolutely love the idea of packing up and just driving until I land somewhere, but that’s simply not an option for me….especially now. *sighs*
I love love love Boho style decor. Some find it to be too messy, but I absolutely love the eclectic style so much. For one thing, you can add just about anything to the room. There are usually lots of colors and fun little hidden gems that can really tell visitors a lot about the resident(s) of the home. Luckily for me, there are lots of great decor styles available in Second Life. The various styles available for our virtual homes is incredible and there’s been no better time in the history of Second Life to add those little details like figurines and plants, that give our virtual spaces a true sense of home.
