“Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars? Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live.” ― Nora Roberts
It’s my favorite time of the year, not only is my birthday on the 6th, but my favorite holiday is on the 31st. I realize its not a worldwide holiday and it must seem absolutely bonkers to areas that do not celebrate Halloween or Hallows Eve. However, I absolutely love all the cutesy pumpkins and ghosties. I also love the ghoulish things and all the scary movies! So, I present to you my first cute Halloween decor post. Naturally, if you remove all the Halloween stuff, you still have a lovely sitting area, but we’re not going to do that just yet…we still have 26 days to go!! *squeals*

This week has totally gotten away from me. Between being sick and trying to keep up with real life, I’m scrambling today to get all caught up and sorted so I can enjoy a couple of days semi-off over the weekend, before throwing myself right back into the rat race next week. For now, I’m going type up this short excuse for a blog post, show off my latest decor shot, and get this all published so I can focus on the next thing. I really wanted to show off these dogs, cuz first off….hello? Corgis!!! Secondly, look at their lil butts!!! You have to see them in person, cuz they just wiggle and it makes me so happy. You gotta see it. I tried my best to show all the sides, cuz they’re so cute. Ends up looking like Momma is having a meeting…thus the title of this blog which has absolutely nothing to do with what I’m writing, cuz I’m just writing whatever pours out my fingers and not really thinking much about it. LOL! And on that note, I’ll wrap it up and call it done!

I’ve been having so much fun in Second Life lately. I kinda dropped the ball a bit on blogging, but it has been nice to take a break from the daily grind of what is usually my SL. I moved to the Blake Sea a couple of months ago. I wasn’t expecting much from it, but it was a nice area and close to some friends. I did think it was neat that they could just drive their boats right over to my house and I loved seeing the other boats that passed my house. Saturday night, a bunch of my Burrow Co. friends were out yachting the Blake Sea and pulled up to my house. It was so awesome! They literally delivered a party to my door! We hung out and fished and laughed in ways I haven’t laughed in a very long time. It was great! Living on the Blake has given me a huge sense of community that I’ve not felt in a very long time. Mind you, there are places I can go and feel that sense of community, like Burrow Co, but having it at home…THAT’s something I haven’t felt in well over a year…year and a half at least. I had no idea how much I missed it. I’ve been in SL approximately 15yrs and this just goes to show, that if you’re bored in Second Life, this is not the place for you. There is so much to explore and experience on the grid that it will never cease to amaze me. So, for those looking for a new experience, go explore the grid…check out places you may have heard about, but thought they didn’t interest you. They just might surprise you, cuz I knew about the Blake ages ago and never thought I’d find myself loving it the way that I do.

In November of last year, Atelier Burgundy & Pitaya teamed up to create a bookstore gacha for Anthem. Fortunately for me, there was a fatpack option. Without any hesitation or even too close of a look, I snatched it up and sat on it for months. I knew a time would come that I would finally create a used bookstore. Well, here comes Anthem with a boho themed round for April and lucky little me, had access to Bueno’s set, as well as THOR’s. Now, get this…InsurreKtion recently invited me to join their blogging team as a VIP and there it was, sitting so pretty in Blogotex! A boho deco set!!! I knew this was it! I quickly rezzed all the things….the bookstore fatpack and all three of my boho sets. But wait, there’s more magic…Mikel Monk, the creator behind the Bueno brand, had named his couch, Kerouac!! Now, I realize there are tons of readers out there that have their own connection to Jack Kerouac, but for a while in college, I was absolutely obsessed. I even had a cat named, Jack Kerouac! I mean, clearly this was a sign, right?
I did my best to list everything in the credits, but as you can see from the photo, I used a ton of items to create my used bookstore. I was picturing one of those really cozy used book stores, that brings in a few treats first thing in the morning with a couple of canisters of coffee, but once those things are gone, that’s it for the day. They sell a variety of collectibles, new and used books, and encourage their customers to hang out.
I typed book and books into my inventory search and just started rezzing out everything. I didn’t bother trying to list every single collection, stack, and row of books, because that would have taken me all day. Let’s face it, I’d rather be reading! I did grab the names of some things, but if you really want to know a specific item in the photo, just let me know. I don’t think I’ll be tearing down this scene anytime soon. ☺
and an assortment of books from Apple Fall, Balaclava!!, Bazar, Dust Bunny, Elm, Fancy Decor, KraftWork, and Zerkalo…plus lots that were part of the Atelier Burgundy + Pitaya . Bookstore set.
I love my cat. I really do, but I’m starting to understand why people prefer dogs. I woke up this morning to a paw to the jaw. Yep, that’s right, he walked on my face. My reaction was a slinging arm which resulted in a cat flung across the bed, followed by a soft murr. This was not a wounded cat sound. Trust me, I’ve heard plenty of those noises. Step on a cat’s tail just once and you’ll never forget it. No, just three little gentle murrs. I couldn’t go back to sleep at this point. I had to get up and find out if he was okay. I’m not a monster, ya know? He’s fine. Once he saw that I was awake, his attitude suddenly changed. I swear that he looked at me and in his little meow language said, “Oh, you’re up! Feed me?”
Needless to say, I fed the little bastard and now he’s lying comfortably on his perch, licking himself. I’m pretty sure he’s quite proud of himself this morning. *looks out the window* FFS, the sun isn’t even up yet. I suspect there’s a nap in my future.
I hear the birds
When they’re singing
I hear the sirens
When they’re ringing
But I can’t take my mind off of you
A thousand words, pouring out
The distance of over there
Is moving on and out
You said it’d be alright
How ’bout these notions
Hmm, they’re deep as ocean
Calling out my name
Screaming out in vain
Singing hallelujah
Tell your mother, she don’t understand
Tell your mother, she’s not listening
Why don’t you tear my heart
The chain is made of string
I roll the dice
You seal the deal
That don’t matter
Cause pain will heal
I will follow you
Into the dark
I absolutely love decor, but I find myself struggling with decor blogging more and more. I’m definitely to a point in my blogging career that I no longer apply for teams. I might “reapply” for a team I don’t want to leave, but I’m not looking for more. I’m starting to get back to where I started with all this and that was more about blogging exactly what I wanted, when I wanted. Now I have deadlines that rarely match my inspiration. My passion has always been fashion, but I wanted to do it all. I’m not cutting out decor entirely, but I definitely think I will continue to cut back in the upcoming months. It takes much more time than I have and the more jobs I take on in SL, the less time I have for blogging, especially decor scenes that often take me at least a week to finish. In the end, I often feel that I’m not giving decor the attention it deserves. The next time you’re decorating or shopping, zoom in close and appreciate the tiny details that creators put into their work.
