Don’t we feed you enough?

Last night, I ordered Chinese Take Away for my mother’s birthday. She just turned 75, can you believe it? Yeah, Mama Sady is three quarters of a century and still going strong. Anyway, Mom was about to go pick it up (as my license is expired) and as she’s collecting her purse and keys, I hear her exclaim, “WHAT THE FUCK?” Followed by, “Come see what your cat has done!”
I go to see what all the commotion is about and I discover that Yara, one of my new cats, has ripped wrestled a trash bag to the ground and is now licking the upper edges of a dog food can. I quickly grabbed my camera and took a photo while laughing, “Yara! Don’t we feed you enough?” She’s a rescue and I’m not sure what her backstory is, but I suspect she spent some time going hungry and having to find her meals where she good. Thus she has a habit of sniffing out food anywhere she can find it. Let me assure you that she has plenty of food. We’re an open feeder kinda family, so she has bowl of cat food on my nightstand as well as my mother’s. Yet, here she is, going for scraps in the trash….and dog food at that! This inspired my photo today and I’ve even included the real life photo I took at the very bottom of the post, for those that are curious….as we cats tend to be. *winks*

That Blake Life

I’ve been having so much fun in Second Life lately. I kinda dropped the ball a bit on blogging, but it has been nice to take a break from the daily grind of what is usually my SL. I moved to the Blake Sea a couple of months ago. I wasn’t expecting much from it, but it was a nice area and close to some friends. I did think it was neat that they could just drive their boats right over to my house and I loved seeing the other boats that passed my house. Saturday night, a bunch of my Burrow Co. friends were out yachting the Blake Sea and pulled up to my house. It was so awesome! They literally delivered a party to my door! We hung out and fished and laughed in ways I haven’t laughed in a very long time. It was great!
Living on the Blake has given me a huge sense of community that I’ve not felt in a very long time. Mind you, there are places I can go and feel that sense of community, like Burrow Co, but having it at home…THAT’s something I haven’t felt in well over a year…year and a half at least. I had no idea how much I missed it.
I’ve been in SL approximately 15yrs and this just goes to show, that if you’re bored in Second Life, this is not the place for you. There is so much to explore and experience on the grid that it will never cease to amaze me. So, for those looking for a new experience, go explore the grid…check out places you may have heard about, but thought they didn’t interest you. They just might surprise you, cuz I knew about the Blake ages ago and never thought I’d find myself loving it the way that I do.

Are we monsters?

I’m watching this show with this amazing witch in it. She makes all these crazy concoctions with hamster parts and tadpoles and God knows what else for these spells. Naturally, I’m grossed out. Later on, I’m eating some left overs of roast beef and mashed potatoes. It got me thinking about how cooking really is just some gross body parts of an animal, mixed with other ingredients, then served up to someone to devour. I have to wonder if that’s as gross to a lifelong vegetarian as the scene from the movie is to us. You see, years ago, I had this massive group of friends in real life and four of us lived in the same apartment building. Our doors were always open to our friends, most of them had their own keys.
Anyway, it was Thanksgiving weekend and we had this huge feast at my house. Afterwards, the leftovers were placed in the fridge, including a partially eaten Turkey on a platter. My best friend was dating a vegan. Like he was hardcore vegan. She asked him to grab her a drink from the fridge. He opened the fridge and gasped, then quickly slammed the fridge door. His face was pale and he looked at her, “There’s a carcus in the fridge!” We all cracked up laughing, while he didn’t find it remotely funny and was literally sick to his stomach.
So, here I am all these years later, eating my left over roast, still watching this show (there are 8 episodes) and I’m like, “Hmm, this isn’t so different from what she’s made.” I mean, we plopped this big piece of a cow into a (crock)pot, we sprinkled some herbs and onions on it, then a bit of water and left it to cook for eight hours. Then we ate it. Not so different, is it? Except we ate it without intent of anything other than substance and joy. We obtained joy from eating the flesh of what used to be part of a living, breathing creature. Are we monsters?

Feeling like a Boss

Its not secret that I own The Liaison Collaborative event now and every month during set up, I do my best not only to chase down designers to set up, but also to amuse them. The latter part does not always work, but at least I try. I don’t have a huge team of people like some events, but we’re not a massive event either. With that said, I do my best to be present and on hand to assist the designers during set up. This month I’ve dressed up like a real boss bitch with this gorgeous pin striped dress from Pixicat, which you can pick up over at Anthem. Then I got the BUENO-On the GoCup, that you can grab at Kustom9, and I knew my look was complete. I mean, what boss bitch doesn’t have a matching cup of coffee with her at all times?

Memories within a dream

I have the craziest dreams sometimes and I know we all do, but I always find it so strange that I have memories within a dream of things that couldn’t have possibly happened. Like, did I dream about this story line before and just not remember the dream in wake time? Am I part of some parallel universe when I sleep? Its just so odd to me that I have all this familiarity in dreams with people I’ve never met. Like the time I dreamt about Jason Momoa….quite a naughty dream I admit, but I swear I rarely dream about famous people…ever. When a famous person is in my dreams, it is rarely sexual. I can only think of two famous people dreams that were sexual, Jason Momoa and Chris Hemsworth. *blushes* I blame Thor for the latter, as I had been to the theater that night.
Sex dreams aren’t really my favorite dreams though. I was speaking to a friend yesterday and he said that he had a dream where he felt like he was in an action movie. I’ve had those dreams, too, and while they are very exciting, I think my favorite dreams are the really strange ones that make absolutely zero sense upon waking. I used to try to interpret my dreams, as I know there’s a lot of symbolism in dreams, but I quit doing that. I have a tendency to overanalyze things when I do that and let’s face it, I have far more than enough anxiety in my life. I don’t need my dreams creating more.
I know, I’m a weirdo, but at least I thought of something to write about. Though, I’m not about to try and explain the dream I remember from last night. Although, I’m pretty sure it was influenced by Love Island, which none of my damn friends seem to watch. Why am I the only person I know that’s addicted to this show???? GOD! *stomps foot*

Later Today

I’m speaking on a BVN panel later today. The panel is about Blog Management and I suppose I’m a bit of an authority on the topic since I’ve been doing it for years now. I absolutely love being a blog manager, so I’m both honored and humbled to be asked to join the panel. I’ve done the panel before as a blogger and a blog manager, but its been a very long time and for some reason I’m super nervous about today. I’m always afraid I’m going to say something stupid or worse, offend someone. Which is kinda funny, cuz I usually don’t care what people think and I’m known for being brutally honest. Spruce up your sliving space

One of my favorite aspects about mesh is the land impact that is saved. I remember years ago, feeling like such a prim whore, because I wanted those little details that really personalize a sliving space. However, back then you could use up 100 prims just decorating an end table. Now, most of the knick knacks are 1-3 li at most and I am so grateful. With that said, if you’re like me and love giving your sliving space some individual flare, then you need to know about Spruce.
Spruce is a new store and yes, the creator is a friend of mine. Most of you are familiar with Harlow Heslop from Burrow Co and various other community spaces before that. However, she has taken on creating adorable decor items like pillows, candles, and now picture frames. I’m a huge fan of frames, as most of my friends and family are photographers. I love displaying their beautiful faces and talents around my home. I encourage you all to check out her store, located on the Burrow Co sim, as well as taking a good look at some of the other little decorative decor elements being made at various decor stores. Don’t limit your vision to complete decor sets, but mix things up. I hope that my photo showcases a little bit about that very subject and if my post doesn’t inspire you, please take a look at some of the amazing decor shots you can find in some of the home groups on flickr.

Like a fish out of water

So, here I sit having decided that I’m going to start writing on my blog again and I’m already at a loss of what to talk about. It’s funny, cuz once you get me talking about just about anything, its difficult to shut me up. Some might even accuse me of dominating conversations. AS IF! *laughs* I’ve asked my readers in the past to ask me questions, but you all seem to not be too interested in asking me anything. Instead, you’d rather watch me flail around like a fish out of water. RUDE.
