So, it finally happened. I finally pinned Rina Edenflower down for a collaboration. She is so completely talented it blows me away and I humbled that she took the time to pose with me. In fact, she hosted our collaboration and look it….I had Rina’s hand on my thigh for hours!!! Don’t hate! Congratulate!! *grins* Seriously, this was so much fun and the time we spent together taking our photos was really fantastic. She is as beautiful inside as she is outside. I wish I could tell you her story, but it isn’t mine to tell. Let’s just say, you have no freaking idea what other people have gone through until you take the time to genuinely talk and listen. I love her more today than I imagined possible and I am so grateful to call her my friend. I truly hope that you will see more collaborations from the two of us in the future.

I’m a Mess

I’ve been told that I’m a bit of a downer lately and I know it’s true. I’ve also been told that I need to socialize more, but the downer thing is exactly why I can’t right now. I have to keep busy, keep moving forward until all of this real life crap is so far behind me that I can barely see it, much less cry over it. I’m sorry to to the friends that need me right now. I’m simply not strong enough for both of right now. You deserve better, but please know that I do love you all…I am just a mess right now. I’m doing my best to keep myself pulled together, but the minute I stop moving forward…the very moment I let my demons have so much as one second of time in my head. I’m doomed. So, am I withdrawing and isolating? Yes, a bit, but I am trying not to withdraw too much. I even reached out to a handful of friends to do some collaborations. So, you’ll be seeing those soon. ♥

The Foyer

The foyer of a home is like the catch all, when you come in the door and have to bolt for the bathroom. I don’t know about you, but it never fails that I’ve got my arms full and that’s the exact moment that I need to pee! I was so excited about these sets from Silence. Although they were designed for a hallway, I could not help myself. I had to use them to decorate the foyer in my new skybox. I added some clutter to reflect that moment right after I get home from a day of running errands and shopping. Drops my bags on the floor, except the tacos and coffee….those are precious and can’t be trusted on the floor with the cats around. *giggles* It might have a fancy name like the foyer, but I think mine should be called the rush in and catch it room.

Krampus & the Grinch

It’s no secret that I’m a bit bah humbug about the holidays season, mostly because its funny. I almost hate to admit that I actually have some of the best Christmas memories from my childhood that anyone could hope for. Though this entire holiday season is especially hard due to the happenings in real life, but I’m surviving it so far. Pretty sure I gained another 10lbs from Thanksgiving, though. I like food…waaayyy too much.
Anyhoo, whether you love the holidays and all that it offers traditionally or you prefer to be on the Krampus & the Grinch side of it, there’s one event on the grid every single year that never fails deliver exactly what you’d hope to find. That event is Tannenbaum and its one of three events put on by Prism Events every year. I know there’s been some drama between event owners and script writers, and I’m certainly not going to pretend to know the whole truth. What I am asking is that you not punish the designers that were already signed up for these events before the drama went public. So, if you chose a side…I didn’t…but if you did, that is certainly your prerogative…please do not punish those designers that are innocently caught in the crossfire. Besides you’ll also be punishing yourself by missing out on amazing creations. Let’s have a happy holidays and leave the differences to those that are directly involved, k? I’m wishing you all a holiday season filled with love & laughter♥

I Want to Kill

This has been my first Thanksgiving without my husband and I’m doing anything I can to keep my mind off of it. I haven’t talked about it to anyone, because I don’t want to bring them down during their joyous holiday time….or add to their misery…lol. I have found it quite therapeutic to kill things…in a game. It’s no big secret that I have been playing GW2 for about six months now. It amuses me that all the years I was with my husband, he made me hate MMOs. He was so impatient, he would help me level up by running my low level characters through high level places, so I’d get all these experience points that I didn’t earn. Yet, he didn’t actually teach me much beyond the basics. For him there was an objective at all times and there was no point in just lollygagging around. With GW2, the friend that has taken me there and shown me around. He not only possesses the patience to “herd cats” aka keep up with me chasing shinies, but he encourages me to find joy in the game, no matter what it is. So, if I want to run around all day picking plants or killing frogs, he says go for it. Mind you, I didn’t say he does that with me…lol, but he appreciates every aspect of the game so much that he has introduced me to places and things that I never would have seen if I were so objective driven. So, as a big fuck you to the ex and an escape to me, you probably won’t see me around SL much this weekend….because in the words of Arlo Guthrie, “I want to kill…KILL…KILLL!”

Like a Knife in Her Chest

She has to excuse herself to the restroom to keep it together. She’d never let him know how she truly felt. It was futile. They would never be more than friends. She had accepted her fate years ago, but tonight as he shared photos of himself with other women…it gutted her. She knew she was better off, but she couldn’t help that each photo felt like a knife in her chest. She could feel the tears flowing down her cheeks as she slid down the wall. She chastised herself, “Get it together. This is not about you!”

Giving Thanks

Once upon a time, many years ago, I used to keep a gratitude journal. It was simple, really. Every morning, I would wake up and right down something I was grateful for and it started my day on a positive note. Every night before bed, I would write something else that I was grateful for and this made for sweeter sleep (if I actually got some).  Once a year we all give more thought to gratitude, as it is Thanksgiving in the United States.

My dear friend, Ruby, made a beautiful gratitude schpeal on Facebook this morning that brought me to tears. One of the first things she said was, “I’m thankful that I, unlike so many, have the luxury of sitting down at a computer, posting a status update on the internet, with a place to live, food to eat, and clean water to drink.” This is something I actually think about a great deal. There have been enough times in my life that I didn’t have those simple things that I genuinely appreciate them daily.

I think the simplest of things are often the things we take for granted the most. So, if not everyday, at least today, be grateful that you have so many simple luxuries in life, because let’s face it…as much as we all depend on it? The internet is a luxury and its one you and I both have, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to read the words I’ve written. So, thank YOU for reading and supporting my creative endeavors. May your holiday season, be filled with love and laughter. ♥

But First…

I’m well known for chasing shinies and squirrels. I readily admit to a lack of focus and it has cost me more than one romantic relationship, along the way. However, let me explain that this is generally what happens to me on a day I’m trying to be productive. In fact, let me just give you examples from real life and second life.

Just this morning, I decided to set up a drawer under my new printer that is just for paper, envelopes, and ink, but first I have to empty the drawer and find a place for everything that was in it. I unload the drawer, take most of the items to my bedside table, where I plan to rehome them. I see my pill pot, so naturally I need to take my pills, but I can’t take them with coffee…so I need to get some ice tea, but first let me finish my coffee. So, I sit back down at my desk with my coffee and a cigarette. I begin checking my email, but first lets see what’s going on in Facebook land. I see a gorgeous photo that takes me to flickr, fav it, then notice I have notifications. I check my notifications, see how my last few photos have been doing, thank people for awards and comments. Then decide I should get my blog post published. So, I start doing that, but first let me say good morning to my friend on discord. (Getting the idea?) Oh, I need to do that blog post, but first let me check to make sure I’m posting the one that needs to be done next. I get that done, now checking Facebook one more time before I share the links over there. OMG, that’s hilarious, let me share that real quick. I finally get my blog published and posted, never did check my email. I finish my coffee, grab my cup, look around the room for any other dirty dishes, grab them and head for the kitchen. I get some tea to take my pills with, but first is there anything quick to eat for breakfast? Nothing quick, I’ll have to make something, but first let me go take my pills. I go to get my pills and realize there’s no bag in my trash can…so off I go in search of the trash bags. I find them, pull one out, lay it on the bed, because now I’ve got the genius idea to make this drawer my cleaning supplies. So, now I’m looking for cleaning supplies scattered about the house….this goes on and on throughout my day. It’s a wonder I get anything done at all, but somehow I do manage, despite all the “But first…” moments.
