I grew up watching these commercials about Calgon and hearing these exhausted women beg Calgon to take them away.  Then you would see them whisked away to some beautiful fantasy world of waterfalls and forest streams and beaches….all sorts of fantastic scenes. I begged my mother for some Calgon, so she got it….it didn’t take me anywhere! Can you believe that? *giggles*

Play Time

I see videos all the time of people recording their pets when no one is home. Their animals get into all sorts of things. However, mine seem to save their high jinks for an audience. We don’t come home to broken things or accidents. Nope, my animals do it all while we’re home. The most absent we can be is when we’re sleeping.
Now with my dog, Zoey, I know she’s being polite by not waking us up if she needs to go out. She’ll go in the kitchen where she knows it’s easy to clean up, rather than having an accident on a rug. She’s a good girl and smart, too.
My cat, Mr. Mayhem, on the other hand, is the epitome of an asshole cat. He seems to think that if he gets in enough trouble, we’ll throw him outside. Unfortunately for him, I know the story of Brer Rabbit. Mostly, I just yell at him as I chase him under furniture screaming, “You better learn to use the phone and dial the ASPCA, cuz I’m about to whoop your ass!”

Vanilla

When I first came into Second Life, back in 2006, I was officially introduced to the Master tag and the entire D/s world. Prior to that, I knew there were fetishes and that people were into bdsm. However, I thought those were just kinks and fetishes. I had no idea they were lifestyles. Over time, I learned the differences between all types of subs and Dom/mes. For the longest time, you really couldn’t go anywhere without seeing some dude wearing a Master tag and a black cape. Now the trend seems to be more focused on Daddy Doms and BabyGirls, or perhaps that’s just where my path has led. However, based on some of the things I see on Facebook, I’m prone to think that those that are not into the bdsm lifestyle are somehow seen as boring. In fact, the term used for those that are not into bdsm is Vanilla. As if to say that Vanilla is a boring flavor.
The truth is, that vanilla is a build block flavor that is in more recipes than most people would realize. The same can be said about sex. I think its funny that so many people in the bdsm community fuss at one another for kinky shaming, as there are some rather extreme kinks out there. Yet, no one really stands up and says, “Ya know what? It’s okay to be Vanilla! It’s ok not to like dirty talk or toys or whips & chains.” There is nothing wrong with Vanilla.
In fact, I’ll take a Vanilla latte over one of those silly pumpkin spice lattes any day! Plus, you can take vanilla ice cream and add stuff to that to make it spectacular. Okay, I’m getting off track and now I want ice cream. Go shopping! I’m going to the kitchen!

What You Eat

Okay, so we’ve all heard the phrase, “you are what you eat.” It’s been a while since I did a “what if” article, but I can’t help but wonder, “What if  you literally became what you eat for like an hour after you swallow it?” Yes, I’m going there, but only for a moment. *laughs* So, am I a sperm? Am I piece of fried chicken? What if we really did magically transform into whatever we ate for 10 mins to an hour? Would we watch what we ate more carefully? Would we all be lining up to eat supermodels? *giggles* And what about the people doing the hunger strikes? They eat nothing….does this mean they are nothing?

I do know that its a metaphorical saying, of course, but you ought to know me by now and know that my mind goes to some strange places late at night.

Self-Righteous Perception

Every so often I come across songs that I think apply to the majority of us in SL and this is one of them. Take a minute, if you will, just read the lyrics before you click on the title link to actually hear the song. Even if you’re familiar with the song already…try to read the words more like a poem…let them sink in. For me, this type of philosophical, metaphoric poetry says more than any one person that even begins to suggest what is right for your life when they barely know you at all. We learn more about ourselves and our truths by looking inward with a mirror made of jagged edges, than we will ever learn from someone else’s self-righteous perception.
