Flipper

I know I’m about to show my age, but I don’t really care about that. People keep telling me it’s just a number and while that’s partially true, its a lot more than that. Anyway, I digress…shocker! I was actually going somewhere with this…oh yeah, Flipper!! I used to watch this show all the time as a kid. I thought there was nothing cooler than having a dolphin for a pet. Thinking back on it now, I don’t remember what any of the episodes were actually about. I do remember thinking that the sad part about Flipper was that you couldn’t cuddle a dolphin. I remember my father telling me stories about swimming with the dolphins at Virginia Beach when he was a kid. I can only imagine what that was like. It certainly sounded amazing. I know its not something I’ll ever do now, but it is definitely something I wished I had done. So, if you’re young and full of life…healthy and in any way able to do something as amazing as swim with dolphins, please go and do just that. You won’t regret doing it, but you might regret not doing it. I know I do.

  1. Loved, loved Flipper was a great family show that I just remember how great it would be to live in I think Florida in that clear blue water with the dolphin as a friend ~ my last place was at a beach town and every morning you could see a pod of dolphins swim one way then if you were lucky to come in the afternoon you could see them swim back that was so amazing ~ thanks for the memories and great post ♥♥

  2. I loved “Flipper” too! I wanted a pet dolphin to swim with for years! Now that said, there was the original show and then it was re-done apparently in the 90s 😉 But like Starr, I lived in a beach community on the water for a bit and were treated to seeing pods coming in with their babies regularly – the cove where we lived allowed them to trap fish for the pod. More recently, was able to interact a bit while kayaking. That was really awesome 🙂 Thanks for bringing back memories. ❤
