Alright, its been a while since I did one of these, but I’m going to take a minute and get real with some of y’all. If you’re one of my best friends, you can skip this read, cuz you’ve heard it and agreed before. So, lets just dive right in while I’m in the mood. I’m pretty active on Facebook and while I don’t necessarily comment on most of the crap I see, I do try to like the things my close friends post and occasionally random things that make me chuckle or raise my atheist little hands in an amen!
Today we’re talking about designers. Nope, I’m not going to bitch about them, there’s plenty of y’all doing that all over Facebook. I’m here to defend them. As a blogger, blog manager, and working for events, I’ve gotten to know quite a few designers and I’ve been blessed to get really close to a few. Here’s what shoppers need to know. They set their own prices and they have a reason for whatever price they set. So, if you dare to accost a designer and suggest their prices are too high and that you’re doing them a favor by suggesting a lower price, you need to check yourself. You have absolutely no idea the amount of time and energy and money they spend to bring their creations to the grid. They don’t just sign in, wave a magic wand, and provide you with gorgeous creations. If their prices are too high? Well, BooBoo, no one is forcing you to shop there, are they?
Oh, I’m not done! If you have an issue with something you buy…its got a glitch, it doesn’t fit right…don’t you dare IM the designer and attack them. Take the time to think how you would want to be approached. Trust me, what you’re wearing and how it fits is NOT an emergency and you will survive until the situation is sorted. So, just take a minute and breathe, maybe type it up in a notecard and have a friend give it a read to make sure you don’t come off sounding like a little bitch, because c’mon…these designers aren’t major corporations with warehouses and thousands of employees. You’re not talking to some random person in a call center that might not give a shit about your complaint. Even if you’re having to go through a CSR vs the designer themselves, treat them with the same respect you want shown to you as a customer. Its not nearly as hard to be polite as some of you make it out to be. Here’s a suggestion, start your note with a compliment and end it with one, too. Remind that designer why you bought their item in the first place…uhm, you liked it and had to have it, right? Sometimes you will be disappointed, but if you didn’t try a demo first, that’s on you, Boo!
Just be nice, okay? Cuz these designers work hard and if you’re seeing them in events, you can bet your ass they are dealing with all sorts of deadlines and rules that they didn’t set for themselves. Oh and stop using those huds to get into events, did you know they actually cause drastic lag to the land where the event is located? Its dreadful. C’mon, you can do it the old fashioned way or simply wait…oh and leave your pets and scripted babies at home, too!

  1. totally agree…except there are very few designers that actually will fix the issue……i have messaged alot and they refuse to fix it and even deny there is an issue ,blame it on me and my shape and resort to …”did try the demo” there is a very short list that absolutely do fix stuff and are so helpful they amaze me and i love them and they will always get my business…its the crappy ones ,,that no matter how nice you ask them… they are still asshats and make it bad for the good ones…they dont get my shopping dollars again ever…huge kudos to designers like blueberry, vinyl, just because, addams to name a few that really take care of there customers ❤

    • I’ve been very fortunate. I’m not sure if its my shape, but I rarely have issues when I try a demo. There are certain stores, you know you can skip demos because you know its always going to fit, but I have been told a few times to adjust my shape. Nope.
