Grow

Once upon a time a very long time ago, I was going through a rough time and it was an especially rainy spring. So much rain fell that spring that my city dealt with floods, which is very rare for where I live. I was complaining about my life and the rain, when a dear friend of mine spoke up and said, “Rain makes things grow.”

I’ve never forgotten her words that day and how true they have proven to be throughout my life. The garden outside my house always looks happier and more colorful after rain water. And in my life…it seems that whenever I come out on the other side of hard times, I’m stronger and happier than before. This isn’t a blanket statement, obviously its not going to apply to every situation in life, but no matter what troubles come our way we must grow in order to overcome them and survive them. So, as you face the hard times that are bound to come your way at some point or another, hold onto the hope that you will grow from this and gain strength. ❤

I don’t do a lot of decor posts, but you can bet when I do I am crazy about the way it all looks. I have a few go to stores in SL that have long been my habitual furniture stores and so long as Cheeky Pea is in SL, Isla Gealach’s creations will have a place in my virtual home. I’ve watched her store grow over the years and I love that it has gotten the recognition it deserves. I could gush about her store for hours, but lets not digress.

I am continuously surprised by the amazing creations I find for my home across the grid and events like Uber are one of the reasons I have discovered some new ones. You like that little segue? LOL…If you haven’t gotten over to Uber yet, you’ll definitely want to check out the Desert Rose Set by Cheeky Pea. This set even has new animations and poses that will not disappoint you.

This round of Uber is a must shop, but then again so are Summerfest and N21. So much shopping, so little time…and lets not mention my linden allowance. I’m pleased as punch that I was able to tie some old stuff with some new stuff to make my virtual home reflect my spirit.

I was also fortunate enough to do the same with my avatar. Snagging this delicious lingerie set from Reverie and pairing it with accessories, both old and new. I am one happy little shopper!

My Happy Place

Everyone needs a happy place, whether its a real place, a virtual place, or just somewhere you go mentally. About four years ago, a friend of mine took me to Hazardous and it has been my favorite place on the grid ever since. Its not a fancy place, but its peaceful and beautiful. Sometimes I think it seems strange that I can feel so renewed or calm, simply by visiting this virtual place on my computer. Sitting there with the combination of their music and the ambiance.

There are a few places across the grid that allow me to recharge my mental and spiritual batteries. Each one delivering its own unique energy. Hands down, Hazardous remains my favorite, but its a place I tend to go alone or with someone special.

Shades of Silver

I don’t have a witty antidote or funny story. I’m just crazy in love with this outfit. I love silver, so when I find gorgeous silver and gray items that just fall in line together…yeah. There are so many amazing events going on right now and by mixing some older things with some newer items from several events, I’ve put together this look that I’ve actually worn more than once! Shocking, I know. Being Human

I’ve been reading all sorts of interesting posts on Facebook lately. Opinions, so many opinions, and what an interesting and beautifully human world we live in, that so many opinions can be expressed in one place from every corner of the globe. Whether its about gun rights in the USA, religious fanatics in the Far East, what happened on Game of Thrones last night, to who pissed in your cornflakes this morning…humans are being human all over the world and as humans, they are being opinionated and getting offended.

I sometimes wonder why everyone seems so easily offended by such petty things. Then I remember all the times I’ve been offended. Then, as I wonder why I was offended and what offended me, it dawns on me…that more often than not, being offended? Its all about perception! I’ll admit, I get offended. Especially, if I think something derogatory was aimed at me. It usually isn’t, but I tend to only think it is when it seems to apply to me. Well, there’s some food for thought..and a topic for a different post.  Its maddening to think about, really. Why do we get so offended? Why do our words offend those who were never the intended audience? Oh yeah, because we’re human! We ALL make mistakes the biggest one is to think we don’t.

One thing is for sure, if you don’t like humans, or human behavior…if you are looking for perfect people in a perfect world…you should probably avoid Facebook…no, wait, avoid the internet…wait, just better stay in your bedroom and lock the door, because the world is full of humans and they are beautifully, imperfect beings. Best not to judge them too closely either, because chances are you’re going to recognize your own faults in other people before you ever see the rest of theirs. *winks* So, I raise my glass of herbal tea to all my fellow humans, whether you want to judge me or not. ❤

Strapped

With all the amazing events going on in Second Life right now, its amazing I have any lindens at all. I am definitely strapped for cash and my avatar is strapped from top to bottom as a statement. Weed or Flower

This simple line from Ella Wheeler Wilcox’s poem, “The Weed,” is so poignant. Without the love and kindness of those around us, would we not all feel like weeds? I cannot fathom where I’d be if not for the mingling of my spirit with the spirits of others throughout my life. Each one leaving its imprint on my soul. Each one playing its own role in my journey. Occasionally we are lucky enough to find a spirit that shines so strongly, that even after one short week of knowing them…we know our life will never be the same.

Keep your hearts and minds open as you go through life to insure that you allow such loving energy into your life. Allow yourself these blessings, for we are each deserving, and there is no need for us to be weeds…let love in and allow yourself to bloom. ♥

Its been a crazy week, nothing like the simplicity of this gorgeous black and white ensemble. I’m drained and exhilarated. I’m feeling hopeful and scared. Power of Words

I love words. I love writing. Whether I’m worth reading is up to the reader. What I find amusing is the power we give words. Sure, when put together to make meaningful statements they often are deserving of such power. Yet, one word alone can so often offend so many when the meaning changes depending on the mouth that spews it.

Cunt is one of those delightful words that challenges many. I hear women all the time talk about how much they hate the word and how it offends them. Bitch is another one…but the list could go on forever. What I wonder is why we allow these words to have so much power over us. Why does the word cunt feel like more of an assault than the word chair?

If someone was to say, “Ya CHAIR!” Well, I think most of us would do a double take and laugh, “WTF?” Yet, let someone say, “Ya CUNT!” and people come unglued. Is one more true than the other? No? Then why so offended? Eh, something to think about. Call me whatever you want, just don’t call me….uhm…yeah, Idgaf…call me whatever you want. Except you, Tracy Redangel, cuz you’re a real cunt. *smirks*

White Rabbit

White Rabbit: Don’t just do something, stand there… Uh… no no! Go go! Go get my gloves! I’m late!

Growing up an only child, a blond haired blue eyed child, I was often compared to Alice. My mother even attempted to tie ribbons in my hair. The ribbons never lasted long and I never related to Alice as much as I related to the scatter brained, hectic rabbit who was always misplacing things and running a bit behind. You see, much like the white rabbit, I have suffered from anxiety my entire life. I constantly worried about being late, offending people, and disappointing them. I still do. I often bite off more than I can chew and my good intentions often lead me right into a hole that I cannot begin to climb out.

I remember my father gave me my first watch in the third grade. I had just turned eight years old when he decided I was ready to learn how to tell time and appreciate its value. From that day forward, anytime I was late, I had no excuse and was severely punished anytime I wasted an adult’s time. This created a lovely cycle of anxiety that only worsened as I grew up. To this day, I struggle with anxiety, but the older I get the less I worry about disappointing people. You see, I realized that its unavoidable. One cannot go through their entire life without disappointing someone, nor can we go through life without being disappointed. So, today I will do my best not to fear the worst.
